copy row to intermediate and back to original sheet - with NEW automated number

I'm trying to copy a row from my primary list to an intermediate list and then back to the original list with a new auto-generated number. Right now, the row copies back over to the original list with the SAME auto-generated number, which now shows a duplicate value. Any way to trigger a new auto-generated number on the new row?

Use case - I have HR requests come into a primary list with a unique number. Sometimes we need to split that request into two requests and I wanted to do this via a copy row automation using a check box as a trigger. Users would check the "copy row?" box and a new row would appear on the sheet, but with a new auto-generated number - a new request essentially. (This is all happening in dynamic view so I can't just copy/paste the row).

Try adding a Workflow that clears the auto-number cell in the intermediate sheet and then copies it back to the original.

Thank you for the suggestion! Unfortunately you cannot clear formulas or Auto-Number/System generated columns. So this won't quite work in my case.

Yes, I forgot about that. I'll look at some client solutions because I think I've worked around it with the help of some helper columns.
