Bring data into Smartsheet with API or ODBC from Excel

Hi,

Does anyone know how to configure Excel or Smartsheet so that a sheet can read data from Excel? I have it working so that Smartsheet is a source and use excel to pick up a sheet's data but not the other way.

All the literature and videos say it can be done but I cannot find out how!

Thanks for the replies, I'm very well thank you!

Yes, we currently use the shuttle by extracting data from our ERP and manually dropping into the sheet as an attachment, then the shuttle does it's magic by updating the target tables. I'm looking to remove the 'middleman' and was hoping the ERP extract could be parked on a share drive and then the connector would read the excel directly (the shuttle can still be used).

Also, I find limitations with the shuttle as it only allows a file to be picked up from say a personal onedrive so if someone is away, then no one else can update that file in its location.

My smartsheet account contact advises me the connector is meant to be a unidirectional flow of data from SMAR to certain applications like Excel. I have had the API working but again, only one way.
