Symbol column on Metadata not showing up in SCC target column

Hello, I have setup a blueprint and have a metatdata file that is linked to it. A column on metadata file that is a symbol column is not showing up in "Target". All other columns are showing up; value, contact, flag, and date. not sure what is going on, but would appreciate some help.
