Forms - Automatic email to the person submitted the form

I want to send automated email to the person who is submitted the form. I have changed the setting to unrestricted so anyone could receive email.

I don't see any columns under 'Send to contact in a cell'. It's empty even when I try to search for it. Can anyone help?

You could change the Form settings so that they need to be logged in to submit the form. You can then add the system column, Created By, and then use that column in an Alert that could trigger automatically after the submission.

@Andrée Starå I want students to submit the form and they are not SmartSheet users. I am collecting their emails. Any way I could send them an automated email?

Add a column and use it as a required field where they have to add their email and then use that for the alert.

@Andrée Starå Maybe i wasn't clear in my first message. I have the column and I have emails in that column. In the automation, when I go to alert someone, I don't see any columns in the Select a contact field. See attached. Even when I try to search the column, it doesn't show. Does it make it clear?

@JalalAli The column you are keeping the emails must be a Contact list type column. you will have to change the column type then you can retype these emails in and add each one as a contact by clicking add contact and putting in their names next to their emails.

@Ken Armstrong In an automated email, it also adds that the row has been added and all the details. Any possibility to not include that part as shown below?

Sure at the bottom of your message you can customize the message and what the message will include

Yes, you can use the message-only option instead and add a message and maybe include something from the submission using the Placeholder feature.
