If Parent Row then CheckBox "Is Parent" Column

Hello

I am looking for a formula that would auto check the box in a column labeled "IS PARENT" when child rows are created. I have tried a couple of variations but have not found the variation that works. =IF(Parent), "1")

=IF(COUNT(CHILDREN()) > 0, 1)
