Tracking Progress changes in a column leveraging workflow

Hi All,

I wanted to get someone's feedback on what you would do with the following predicament. I have lots of activities (rows) associated to a columns, e.g. Program 1, 2, 3, and 4 which contains dropdown 'In-Process' and 'Pass' Statuses. What I need is when a user selects the a new status e.g. In-Process that Smartsheet would create a line item with the date stamp and a the 'status' and 'Column name' with the associated Program 1,2,3 or 4 in one column.

If I could have a column that would capture any changes associated to the above column with their associated status with dttm that would be great. E.g. 7/17/2023 @ 14:03 - Pass for Program 1.

Is that even possible?

Below is a link to a method I developed for grabbing historical data. Basically you make sure you have a unique ID on every row, set up a copy row automation to copy the row over to another sheet when that cell is updated, then use formulas with cross sheet references such as INDEX/MATCH or INDEX/COLLECT to pull the static data back over to your main working sheet.
