Import an Excel file into exisiting Smartsheet
Hello,
This might be a very basic and potentially dumb question, but I am trying to figure out how to import an excel spreadsheet into an existing sheet without overlaying the existing sheet data. Meaning when I import from Excel it deletes the existing sheet's data. How can I append an Excel import to an existing sheet? I tried giving the Excel file the exact name of the sheet and it still overwrote the existing sheets data.
I thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hey @Lara Lehnerz !
There are (2) potential solutions:
#1 - if it's not a huge amount of data, I would just copy & paste it into the Smartsheet.
#2 - if that's not working do the following:
A) Import your Excel sheet into a separate/new Smartsheet
B) Then "Move" all the rows from that sheet into the existing Smartsheet (select all rows, right click on far far left of the row, select "Move to Another Sheet", select the existing sheet, click Save / Move, Save the sheet and wait a few second to a few minutes for the data to move to the other sheet.
Let me know if that works for you or if you need additional assistance!

Thank you for confirming I wasn't missing an obvious step with the Import feature.
These solutions will work, thank you.

You can also use Data Shuttle if you have access to that.

Thank you Paul.

Hi @Jon Mark H
Following your suggestion to ''move'' all the row to another sheet, is there a way to do that including formula? As I can see, the value has been move but not the formula that was in the original sheet.
Thank you for your help :)

@Julie Barbeau You would need to enter the formulas on the recipient sheet yourself.
