Automating Child Actions

Hi,

I am hoping someone may be able to help.

Is there a way to automatically add child actions when a new job is created? The job in this case is being added via a form and transferred across to another sheet. After each new row is inserted, how can I add 3 child actions automatically each time a user inserts a new project? I do not have Bridge or any add ons.

Thanks

    Hi @lauren.green

I hope you're well and safe!

It's possible, but it's pretty advanced.

I recently developed something similar for a client.

    • It creates a selectable number of assignment rows with specific details from a defined start date. Consultants use this to report their work hours and more on a row per date.

If it is always three rows, it's easier.

What data would need to be included on each row?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

  • Hi @Andrée Starå

That sounds along the lines of what I am looking for.

The child actions in this case would have a specific name under the job type column, but the information within each field would be blank for the user to fill in. How would I go about this?

Alternatively, rather than copying the rows from a different sheet each time a row is added, is there a way to automate the child actions to be copied below each new parent action from the top of the same sheet if those cells were locked and used as a template?

    Thanks
