What is the Required checkbox on the Customize Profile Data page of Control Center for?

I'm curious what the Required checkbox on the Customize Profile Data blueprint setup page of Control Center for? Does it control anything specific? Never been entirely sure so I figured I'd ask to see if anyone can explain it. Thank you!

When someone is provisioning a project in Control Center, anything that is checked will be considered "required" and will definitely provision. Anything unchecked, the user has the option to not include its creation during provisioning.

Use case: Some project managers like an extra checklist that doesn't impact the rest of the build, but other project managers feel it just clutters things up since they don't use it. Setting it as "optional" by leaving the box unchecked means that your project managers can decide for themselves whether that checklist gets provisioned with the project or not.

@matt.takahashi It is only applicable when manually provisioning. When auto-provisioning, there is no point at which the project manager actually accesses Control Center. As such, there is no opportunity for a project manager to select/deselect optional pieces.

Thanks for the response @Paul Newcome. Follow-up question, does that optional workflow apply if we are using an SCC automation for project provisioning? Or does it only work with manually creating projects?

I think the provided answers are incorrect. The question pertains to the CUSTOMIZE PROFILE DATA page. The answers seem to describe the SOURCE TEMPLATE SETTINGS page.

@Pat Canning The Required Checkbox in the Customize Profile Data section is in regards to the data that is required to provision a new project. You can select whether or not each piece of data is required before a new project is provisioned in the Customize Profile Data section.
