Is there a way to re-size or re-shape form field sizes?

I've got a simple form I want to build that has several data fields that will have varying amounts of data contained within them. When I create a form based on this sheet the amount real estate taken up by the data fields is inconsistent with the amount of data that will be in the field. An example is putting in a time, 12:00 PM. The form field takes up the entire row of the form. I'd like to shrink the amount of space taken up by the time field and put a date next to it on the same row of the form.

Also not seeing a way to create a form with multiple columns of form fields.
