attaching documents
How can I attach documents to an automation?
Answers
-
Can you elaborate more please? Are you wanting to use automation to attach documents?

@Jeremy C Here is the automation. When the email goes out for the update request, I would like for documents to be attached to this automation.
-
@jenaw Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly - you are wanting the row attachments to be sent with the update email, is that correct? If so you can accomplish this by using the specific fields options under customize message.

@Jeremy C Yes I do want the update email to send out an attachment. I have the attachment field but that is so that when they are filling out the form they can attach a file. Then later on after VP approval, they need to get an update request that has a file for them to view.

@JenaW I haven't setup an automation like this yet but I believe you can accomplish this within the same workflow. Select 'Request an Update' in the workflow and set it up to your needs.
Click the 'plus' circle under that section to add a condition. This condition will trigger the next part of the workflow. Without knowing what your sheet's contents are I would assume this could be date the update was completed or a checkbox column to confirm the update and trigger the Approval.
After the condition section select 'Request an Approval' and set it up as needed. Hope this helps.

@Jeremy C why in the condition does it say is one of "yes"

That condition is based off the info in my sheet and references to a drop down.

so I need to have 2 request approvals?
This is what I have so far
But I guess attachment field here is wrong. This is the attachment that they are uploading when they fill out the form
-
1 would be an update request (to upload the attachments) and the other would be an approval request.

@Jeremy C But I need to upload my own documents, so is the first step for me to upload my documents?
-
@JenaW The way I was understanding this is that the first update would be sent to capture the documents, is that not correct?

@Jeremy C In this automation I would like for them to receive 2 attachments
-
It sounds like you will need to upload the attachments manually for the Request an Update automation.

@Jeremy C How do I upload them manually?

@JenaW This should help out with document upload. If you haven't checked out the Level 1 Learning Track this link comes from Topic 5 of the training.
