Is there a way to copy just 1 cell to another sheet once a column in original sheet changes to active?
There are a few ways to "copy" a cell to another sheet. Depending on what you are doing, you can use cell link to populate the second sheet. You could also use the copy row automation to move the row, and then use automations to clear the other cells. Again, depends on what you are doing. Some ways will not work with the use case you are trying though, so if you could set more parameters we can more fully present a solution to you.
I want the following. Once "project status" becomes activated on portfolio then copy the cell with the project name & another cell with the assigned project manager to another sheet. ( Project Governance Sheet)

To add to Eric's excellent advice/answer.
You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.
Another option would be to use so-called helper sheets. In short, copy the row to a helper sheet and then use my method described previously to get the values you need to another helper sheet and then copy/move the row from that sheet to the main destination sheet.
To connect them row by row, you'd use an Autonumber Column in the Source sheet and add a so-called helper column to manually add the row id on as many rows as you think you need in the Destination sheet.
