Hierarchy function for columns?

I am thinking about creating a project tracker and know how to use the hierarchy function for rows, but want to see if anybody knows if it is possible to do a hierarchy in the columns section? If not, do you have any work arounds?

Unfortunately, it's not possible now to use a hierarchy for columns, but it's an excellent idea!
