Allow DataMesh to Update Multiple Targets

Kelly Moore
Kelly Moore ✭✭✭✭✭✭

Often we have multiple sheets that are identical to one another - differing only by region, product or project. All, or most, of the columns are identically named and the sheets will share master data. Currently a DataMesh can only be linked to one Target Sheet. It would be terrific if multiple target sheets could be added, assuming the same, single, DataMesh configuration will work on the multiple sheets.

Or, at least have a mechanism that allows you to replicate a DataMesh and point to a different Target Sheet to simplify creating new DataMeshes.

This is currently possible! You can map to multiple target sheets on the second tab of the configuration window. To select multiple target sheets, hold Control or Command while clicking.

  • Hi @Kelly Moore, you can actually map to multiple target sheets! It's a pretty small note at the top of the screen in the mapping target step.

@Danielle Wilson This is a great feature. But, the feature has a limit of 5 sheets to select as the source. It would be excellent to be able to expand this limit - I have multiple use cases involving sourcing data from a report that needs to populate (add or update) rows in anywhere from 15 to 30 source sheets. Are there any plans to increase this limit?

  • @TJ North That would be an awesome one to submit an idea for in the Product Ideas section of the Community site! Feel free to tag me on it so I can follow along with the feedback from other users.

To my knowledge we aren't planning to add this directly to DataMesh but there are likely going to be some releases in the nearer future that should address this need.
