Make Stars yellow by Default

I am creating a New Hire Checklist and one of the columns is called required. If that row's task is required the start will be checked and show up yellow. How do I make all the starrs in the required colum yellow by default? So we have to uncheck only what isn't required instead of vice versa.

JBogert - add this formula to a star cell then copy it down the entire column:

    =1

A “1” will enable the star in the cells. This formula will be auto-filled to any new row (with data) that you add to the sheet. Once you have added the formula to the entire column, all the stars will be starred and when you add a new row with data, the star will contain the formula with will enable the star.

The auto-fill function will work if you have the exact same formula two rows above or below the new row you added. This means if you insert a new row in-between two rows that have been ‘un starred’ the formula will not be copied to that new row.

  • Thank you! that did the trick.
