Copy row from source sheet to destination sheet but continue to update source row
Hello
How do you copy a row from a source sheet to a destination sheet and continue to update source row while reflecting changes on destination sheet.
Additional info. We have two sheets, Sheet A (source) and Sheet B (destination). In essence both act as source sheets.
When a new row is checked marked in Sheet A, I have a workflow that moves over the row to Sheet B. This works fine.
What I am trying to do is add rows in Sheet B and copy them over to Sheet A. In Sheet B we are always updating rows and I need the information reflected in Sheet A.
I tried a workflow in Sheet B, and that works fine, it duplicates my rows when updates are performed in Sheet B.
Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi Andrée
Not sure if this is gonna help my use case. I guess I need more info or an example. I am also thinking of using "dummy" sheets to dump info there and then recover that info and send it to my destination sheet or source sheet.
As you can see, I don't have clear vision to resolve this issue.

Is there a reason you are using a separate sheet "B" instead of a row report?
-
Yes. Sheet B is used by certain users (Sales Dept.) to view or add data relevant to their task. Sheet A is viewed by another set of users (IT) to track Sales Dept. tasks but at the same time the IT folks may use it to enter tasks which needs to seen by the Sales Dept Folks (Sheet B).
In a nutshell, Sheet A needs to have the ability to copy rows ONCE A TASK IS COMPLETE to Sheet B.
Sheet B need to have the ability to copy rows to Sheet A if entered if directly added to Sheet B.
All this while having the ability to continue to update the rows. Meaning if information is changed in Sheet B e.g. task information, owner, comments, etc. it needs to be reflected in Sheet A.
I hope this is not too confusing. I also feel there's a workaround to this problem. Haven't found it yet though.

You can use filters in the report to only show rows from Sheet A that are marked as complete by the IT team. You can further filter to only show rows that are indicated for the sales team. Plus the report is bi-directional.
-
But what is my linking point? I've tried workflows to copy rows over and while that works to copy the rows, when updates are made to that row from the source row, it creates another row with the updated information.
-
There is no copying required. The report essentially creates a permanently filtered view of the main sheet that is editable and bi-directional.

Is there someone I can call of support? Are you available Paul? Any info you can provide would be grateful.
