Automation Workflow - External Users

Hi,

I just found out today that even though I have set my Automation settings as Unrestricted, so external users with different email addresses will get notifications - in my case, Update Requests - I still have to add these domains in the Domains Safe Sharing list. Lucky that I am also an admin to my organization Smartsheet. For example, my company domain is abc.com and I would like to send the notifications to people in DEF.com or XYZ.com - I still need to these domains in the Safe Sharing.

I thought having Unrestricted would allow any workflows to be sent to emails being referred in the workflow / sheet regardless if they are not in the domain safe sharing

Does anyone know if this was changed recently, or has it always been like that?

This depends on what plan-type you have and what security restrictions your organization has configured for your plan.

If you are on an Enterprise plan, your System Admin may have set up security controls around external sharing, in which case, yes, you will need to add those domains as an approved domain. This article has more information: Configure security controls for an Enterprise Plan

@Genevieve P. Thanks we are enterprise and I do have security restrictions in place. In place of adding the full domain we are just adding approved emails versus domains since these are outside vendors and only a select few.

Thanks @Genevieve P. I can confirm that we are on Enterprise and looks like Safe Sharing policy is active. Makes sense if it is for extra security to restrict users from giving access to externals.
