Group in reports
Does anyone know if smartsheet is going to allow the ability to print, or even create a dynamic view of a group report?
This is hugely needed and I see people have been asking for this for years.
Or is there a work around on how I can get a group report to people who are not shared to the sheet. Or Would like the ability to send a group report via send as an attachment.
I think group reports were a great thing. But its like the idea and design from smartsheet went like 80% of the way there.
Does anyone else have the same issue? Any solution or work around?

Hey @Jon Barto
You can share a Grouped Report on a Dashboard, then give users the ability to see that Dashboard! This will show them the Grouped Report without having them shared to the underlying sheet.
If you print that Dashboard it will show the Grouping in that Report as well.
Cheers,
Genevieve

Thank you for your feed back. However that will not work. It requires way to much manual printing. There is no way to print and send as a pdf on a regular schedule like you can reports. We
Also some of our group reports will not fit entirely on a dashboard. And there is no way possible to break them up into multi reports.
So how do we achieve the abilty to see grouped reports on dynamic view, or export the reports on a schedule in group format?
Don't understand why this has not been fixed. Its been years we all have been waiting for this update. Group reports are a great way to see data especially since we use smartsheet for construction project managing.
Thanks

I would like to circle back to your comment from 4-16-24. You mentioned about sharing a group report on a dashboard then share the dashboard. (and you said this can be done without sharing the sheet)
However how is this possible. because if they are not shared to the sheet they will not see any data on the report. Correct???

Hi @Jon Barto
My apologies for missing your earlier tag!
Adding a Report to a Dashboard is a way to share Report information without sharing the underlying sheet. 🙂 This is because you can set the widget to be configured as if it's the widget owner/editor who is always looking at the content.
Here's more information:

3 years of requests for this feature??? Without it "reports" are nearly useless to output info??? Good grief, Smartsheet, wake up! I have wasted hundreds of hours assembling info on a project I have now no way to output in a useful format for a businesslike application. Very displeased.

I guess I will abandon Smartsheet, output the info to Excel, and solve it there. Really disappointed. I will not recommend Smartsheet to others.
