Task over due 3 days

How to make it to send an alert when the status is waiting on... and the task due date is over due by 3 days and it alerts the owner. It will only alert On the 3rd day and not all the days between the due date and 3 days past. Then an alert so that it notifies if it is 10 days in the past. The alert will only go out on the 10th day and not day 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and 10.
