Update Sheet/Cell via e-mail

Is there a way that a cell/sheet can be updated from an email? In my search, some seemed to think that a sheet is related to a specific email address, that when emailed with the correct format to declare column/row/cell, the chosen contents would end up on the sheet itself. Is this possible?
