What's the difference between Timeline View and Gantt?

Gantt charts show the start/end dates of work and any dependencies. It'll clearly show when a delay in one area will impact another.

Timeline view shows the start/end dates of work without visualizing the dependencies and allows more flexible visualization and formatting (time period, grouping, etc.).

As a project manager, I'd use them differently:

Gantt chart: Use with project teams and certain highly engaged project stakeholders to show work progress and critical paths.

Timeline view: Use to produce reports for leadership or more general audiences.
