Can I move a project provisioned through Control Center from one program to another?

I'm currently facing a situation where I have several projects that were provisioned under one program (portfolio) and already have significant work done in them, but due to some reorganization, they need to be moved to another program (portfolio).

The projects follow the same blueprint, but I'm concerned that all of the linkages that feed upward from project to program for reporting / dashboards will need to be reconnected piece by piece. If there's a clean way to move them through Smartsheet Control Center, that would be wonderful. If not, it seems like we'll need to weigh reattaching all of the connections manually versus the amount of rework it would take to copy everything if we just provisioned new projects in the gaining program.

Thanks in advance for any insights the Smartsheet team and community have to offer.

Unfortunately it's not possible. However, you might reach out to your account rep and get Smartsheet's take on it… there might be some backend "magic" that the Control Center team could do for you to move from one to the other. But it's not something you can do through CC UI.

When we had to do something similar, it was a pain. But you don't have to recreate all the links. Setup the new blueprint with the cell links etc that you're using, then provision the projects anew, then copy the data from old to new with copy rows. The only thing that doesn't work well for is Predecessors, which you need to copy over secondarily after doing a copy row.

Another option might be to Global Update your existing blueprint into something close to what you want from the new blueprint. But given some of the limits on updating automations, cell links, and summary fields…it's likely this would be more painful than just moving the data over.

Good luck! If Smartsheet support has a backend solution will you please repost to this question so the rest of us know about options?

    Thanks
