In one word 'Patience' makes a good mentor. I think that an individual who has mastered the art of patience has the ability to comprehend a multitude of perspectives and behavioral characteristics that can aid in achieving another's self-developmenal goals.

I would say my choice would be "Collaborative", it is a pivotal component in the process.

In my opinion you can have knowledge, understanding and empathy but without collaboration you do not have a proper mentor/mentee relationship.

To me a good mentor would be "Experienced". The ability to guide and teach based on experience. To help you learn from their own mistakes and successes. Is an invaluable skill and tool.

So many great words shared by the Community - thanks!! For me - Mentors have helped me learn to reflect - celebrate successes, map out steps to grow and improve and encourage me to push forward - to take steps I might not have taken. I try to pay it forward with my mentees!!
