Is there a way to simplify formulas with a variable within the formula?

I would like to simplify certain formulas that contain common/repeat functions by assigning a variable. This can be done in MS Excel using the LET function (see image below).

    Hi @timtrijbetz

You cant specifically do this but by utilising summary fields and referring to those instead you can achieve a similar result, being able to reuse a field multiple times or simplify a complex formula, the very basic example is as below:

the field x or y (or whatever you wish to name them) could represent any calculation process that can be handled externally to the formula and referred to as required.

Not exactly the same as using LET but one of the cases where thinking outside the Smartsheet box can deliver something approaching the need.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks
