Getting Smartsheet to Take a Snapshot of a Daily Report in Outlook

Hi Everyone!

Every morning, I receive an automated email in Outlook with a report that includes different tables. I am creating a Smartsheet dashboard and was wondering if Smartsheet has the capability to take a snapshot (a physical image) of that report each morning and have it appear in my dashboard.

Any ideas are appreciated, thank you!

    Have you looked into just imbedding the report on the dashboard using a report widget?

    How would you go about imbedding the report? To provide some context, the email comes each morning. Within the body of the email, there are 4 tables with the new information for the day (these are not attachments to the email). Is it possible to imbed and Outlook report within Smartsheet? Thanks!

    I agree with @Paul Newcome , you most likely want to embed the report's data directly in the dashboard.

    @egold31 you mentioned:

    Every morning, I receive an automated email in Outlook with a report that includes different tables.

    If the data that you use to generate the automated email is already in SmartSheet as a Report, then you can use the Report widget in your dashboard.

    I'm assuming that the automated email was generated by SmartSheet, and the "report" is coming from a SmartSheet Report. However, if by "report" you're talking about an internal report generated at your company using some internal system, and the data isn't already in SmartSheet, then the problem is completely different.

    Can you clarify a bit, is the data already in SmartSheet as a report?

    Thanks!

    @egold31 It sounds to me that when you are saying "report", you do not necessarily mean a Smartsheet Report?

    The report I'm talking about is an internal report generated at from my company. In this case, is it possible to have Smartsheet take a snapshot of the internal report?

    Thanks for the clarification, the problem makes way more sense to me now!

    SmartSheet dashboards have a "Web Content" widget that lets you embed data from Google, Microsoft, SmartSheet, Tableau, Vimeo, and YouTube.

    I'm not sure how your internal report is generated. Is it possible for you to generate the report and send it to a Google Doc, or a Microsoft 365 Word document? Then you could embed this document inside of your dashboard. Your report would need to update the same document everyday, so that your dashboard would automatically update daily.

    This is what embedding a Google doc looks like:

    To pull directly from the email,. you would need to use a third party app or the API. There is no native way to automatically pull part of an email into a dashboard without manual intervention.
