Rolling-up information from sheet and reports. Unable to group information.

I am creating a report that pulls data from sheets and one other report. The information rolls up fine from both the sheets and report but it does not allow me to group the information from the report. For example, I want to group by program and then sub-group by sub-project. I keep getting a "Blank" for the group and the sort for the information from the the report. Checked for typo etc. The data is there. Help.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I changed the grouping to text and it works but the sub-grouping does not work - shows "Blank" still (also changed that to a text/number field in the sheets and one report).
