Track new employee onboarding tasks + workflow

I need to create a Smartsheet to track new employee onboarding tasks.

The problem I am having is I’m not sure how I can track them based on hire date and then again by different roles (that has different requirements)

I would also like to be able to create a workflow to describe the steps in this process.

Does anyone have a template that might help and/or can assist me.
