Contact List - Determine if Email Is Missing
Hi! I have people filling out a Smartsheet form who are NOT licensed users and providing email addresses in a Contact List field for NON licensed users. I need to a way to know quickly if someone didn't follow directions and put their name instead of email into the form.
I also have data already in the sheet where folks have put names instead of email addresses. I know that if you see the circle in the cell that implies the email is there, but when people use the form to type the email address of someone already populated in contacts it shows up as a name with no circle so I can't use that reliably. How can I automate checking to see if someone has put an email address in? We need them later in our process to send update notifications to these individuals so I can't just use a text field with email validation… or can I, then copy via a formula into a Contact List field?

Hi @hannah_johnson - Using formulas against a contact field is consistently a sticky point, but you could solve this another way, by not allowing users to enter anything that isn't an email address. You can configure that on the form here:
I hope that's helpful!
