Image upload in a form be inserted as an image in a cell in the row

Answers

  • Hi - I wanted to circle back on this thread to see if there has been any progress on this since 2022. It still does allow us to upload an image into a sheet by right-clicking, but I want people to be able to upload their image via a form.

I then thought, if the form wasn't available, I could have them add them in a "current user" report. But it doesn't seem like that's an option either.

Let me know if there's a work around for this. I'd rather not upload everyone's photo myself. thanks!

@karizimmeran Currently, Smartsheet does not support directly inserting an image uploaded via a form as an image in a cell in the row. Images uploaded through a form are saved as attachments to the row, not as in-cell images. You are correct that, to place the image in a cell, you would need to manually download the attachment and then upload it again as an in-cell image.

Here’s a workaround to streamline this process:

    1. Download the Attachment: After the form submission, download the image attached to the row.
    2. Upload to Cell: Open the cell where you want the image to appear, and use Insert Image in Cell to upload the image.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to reduce manual effort and track images in rows:

    • Create a Smartsheet Dashboard: You can display row attachments in a dashboard, where users can view the images without needing to open each row individually. While this doesn’t place the image in a cell, it provides an easy way to visually display attachments.

Although Smartsheet doesn’t yet allow dragging images directly into cells, using this combination of attachments and in-cell images can help manage images with minimal manual handling.
