Trouble Opening a PDF Attachment
Hello,
I have a PDF document attached to a row, and when I click on it to open, I get a link to get Adobe Reader, even though I already have it on my computer. Is there a way to get Smartsheet not to do this?

Hi @Tim Dollmeyer,
Thanks for confirming that you’ve set up your browser to open PDFs inline. I found the following threads in the Adobe and Microsoft Communities which suggest that opening portfolio PDFs may not be supported by Adobe:
- For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat X or Adobe Reader X, or later merged PDF
- Portfolio PDF issue "For best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat X or Adobe Reader X, or later."
I’d recommend checking out this Adobe article and, if required, reaching out to Adobe for support on this.
As an alternative solution, you could try clicking the three-dot menu on the attachment in the Attachments panel and selecting Preview.
Hope that helps!
Georgie

Hello, Tim.
I had this issue before and my browser settings within my company's internet explorer were set up for Adobe Reader. Even when I opened it using a web app like Smartsheet. I had to go in and change my default pdf viewer in my settings to open directly within the window. See below to see if this helps! -
Thanks for the response. I followed the instructions (I have Chrome) and I already have that setting set up that way. I tried changing it to download and still got that error.

Thanks Georgie!
Yes, this is a Adobe issue not a Smartsheet issue.
