Issue with Scanning Multiple Barcodes Without Overwriting

Hi everyone,

I’m using a Smartsheet form, where I need to scan multiple barcodes into a single field. However, each new scan overwrites the previous one, even when I add a separator. I’d like each scan to add to the list in the same field without replacing the previous codes.

Any suggestions on how to keep all scanned barcodes in one field? Thanks!

    hello @Romain RAGUENES,

I am pretty sure that's how Barcodes work in MobileApp that it only overwrites existing field so only one Barcode per field.

    I would recommend two solutions:

if you are saving the sheet after reading each barcode those will be in the history of cell so you can always check what were the values of the cell - but I guess this is not the most optimal situation for you.

You can always use workflow e.g:

    1. Workflow: After you take a photo of the barcode and it's added to the cell - copy the entire row to another sheet.
    2. Formula: Once all the barcodes are copied to another sheet as separate rows you can add them back to original sheet row like using INDEX/Match or VLOOKUP and JOIN functions.

Hope this will give you the idea how to resolve it.
