Approval Workflow

I have a approval workflow automation set up but am looking for a way to add comments to when the request is approved/denied without having to send another update request. Is this possible?

I have it set to notify someone when a request has been submitted for approval. The user can review the request from the 'alert someone' notification but there isn't the ability to put notes/comments with the approval or denial so I have had to send another update request to allow them to put an approval comment or a reason the request was denied.

    Hi!

    You can select to include Comments with the notification —this would be within the area where you select which columns to include. Does that help?

    Additionally, if your action isn't yet set up as a "Request an Approval" action, that may be helpful for you. (It makes it really easy to see where something is in the process!)

    I have this set up as a request for an approval and if I add that column to the approval request is doesn't provide a blank field where they can input their notes. The only option is to approve or deny the request.

    @blmccue - Hey there—

    The Comments field is available in the approval request message, and is something the approver would need to complete before they click "Approve" or "Decline" (or, whatever your set your options to read). So, yea, it's not something the person can add AFTER they chose Approve/Decline…. but they can add their notes before they click the button.

    I use this setup for my own approval request workflows, and include in the request message that the person should add comments and then click approve/decline. I can then surface the "Latest Comment" on the sheet so it's easy to see when a note has been added.

    Don't know if that would work for you, but it's the solution that has worked for my team. :)
