Salesforce Connector not pulling in related object values

Hello,

I am using Salesforce connector to populate a Intake form in Smartsheet. I am able to pull in all Opportunity fields but we have a Discovery Questionnaire object (via Lookup Summary field) related to the Opportunity and I can't get those value to populate. I see them as being able to map but am unable to populate on the Intake Sheet.

Any ideas on why?

    Hey @Stevie Caterina

The issue you're experiencing is likely due to limitations with how Salesforce Connector handles related objects. While lookup summary fields can appear as mappable, they often don't populate in Smartsheet because they rely on roll-up data that isn't directly accessible through the connector.

To work around this, consider creating a formula field in Salesforce at the Opportunity level to pull the Discovery Questionnaire values into a text or number field. This way, the connector can map and populate those values on your Smartsheet Intake sheet. Let me know if you need help setting this up!

Hi @Stevie Caterina. Lots of options available to things working the way you need. You can put the Discovery information in a secondary sheet and link it back through to your primary sheet. You can create a link in Salesforce that will pre-fill a form in Smartsheet with whatever information you need.

If you're looking for a no-cost option, then @ChristianFinke 's suggestion to create a bunch of custom fields in your Opportunity object will work.

Given that you probably don't want to mess around too much with your Opportunity object in Salesforce, the best bet would probably be to have a second connector running to sync your Discovery object into Smartsheet.

That's something my team can quote you on if you're interested in. They're available on solutions@infospark.com.au.

@ChristianFinke This is what I thought. I want to get away from adding more fields to the Opportunity that we already have in SFDC. Would a master detail relationship change this vs lookup?

    OR…

Do you know if Smartsheet will allow me to pull from other smartsheets into one? This way I can have Discovery Questionnaire field pulled into a smartsheet and then into another sheet that already has the Opportunity fields.

  • @Lindsay Whitbread I was able to us the DataMesh Config option and map them all to a specified sheet. So far, I think this is what we need!
