Why is that "Alert Someone" feature in the Automation send out to multiple email notification?

The elected email received multiple email notification about his/her request is approved. How can I limit this to only just one email notification?

Please Help.

    Hi @Martin Acuna

There are a few things you can check:

    1. What does your trigger look like? If your trigger is set to fire multiple times, it will
    2. Have a look at the cell history of the Approval column. If someone has changed the cell multiple times, the e-mail will send multiple times.
    3. Double check that the notification was for the same project. You would receive an email for every project that is approved, if they are approved at the same time, you would receive multiple emails but for different projects.

    Hope this helps

  • @MarceHolzhauzen Thank you for your comment but did not work.

The trigger is set up in this manner.

Approval > notify someone via email that the request has been approved.

the requestor is just blasted by the automated email for approval.

    Hi @Martin Acuna

The trigger of your workflow is the top bit, it's the first thing the sheet looks for before firing off the subsequent action (in your case, the action is an approval request).

If your trigger is set like below, what the workflow reads is the following:

If anything changes in the row, fire off the approval action. This means, if people add information to the row, the row changes which triggers the flow. If the project was approved once, the approver will receive the approval email everytime someone adds information to the row.

Should this be the case, what you can do is change the Trigger, to only work when the approval field changes.

    So your trigger would be
When rows are added or changed —> When "Approval Status" is not Approved or Declined —> Run workflow when triggered

Let me know if this helps
