Set Target End Date first and have predecessors fill in

Is there a way to set the Target End date in a project sheet first and have all the preceding dates backfill? When I tried it, an alert comes up that says "…will result in the removal of all predecessor relationships in this row". I've looked into the Workback Schedule using the Project with Hard Deadline and Gantt template, but I don't want to start a new template when we have lots of projects already setup using our current standard template.

Unfortunately, unless you use those templates you described, there really is no way to reverse engineer what you have already done, unless you follow the rules of the "Workback Schedule".

Taking something that is setup with assigned predecessors will not work backwards, unless you go back through all the predecessors and reset them to be reversed "End Date to Start Date". Basically there really is no easy answer to this.
