I'd like to see this happen, even if I have to insert the HTML into the template manually.

  • Please add this Rich Text functionality, which would allow us to format our automatic email notifications. The world uses Rich Text in so many contexts, it is surprising to find areas where it is not used. Even if we have to type in the HTML manually, that would be a great improvement over plain text.

  • It would be nice for alerts to allow things like a hyperlink to resources or an image that is stored as a sheet resource (like an email signature image. I use smartsheet for automated messages to new joiners and it looks very foreign because there are so few options for customization.

    Hey Brigitte,

Yeah, the lack of formatting in Smartsheet emails is frustrating. We're working on a "Smart Notifications" feature for our Chrome extension that should fix this - adding support for bold text, bullets, and hyperlinks.

Quick question - is this something you need for the automated notifications, or when you're manually sending updates? Just want to make sure we're solving the right problem.

We're also considering adding saved templates. Let me know if that would be helpful for your workflow.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • There should be the ability to do simple formatting of emails that are sent out via the atomation options. Simple things like using asterisks surrounding text to bold or underline. This is a basic code function of numerous platforms and I think a big gap currently.
