Attachments

Hello,

I am currently using Smartsheet to track my service calls. By doing that, I add attachments for internal use, i.e.: requesting POs, costs, etc. However, I have also shared the service call sheet with my client. How can I prevent from client from seeing or opening the attachments?

    Hello Mr. St. Thomas,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Although it didn't resolve my issue, I was able to find a workaround on my own.

If you hide the 'Attachment' column, you can still add attachments by clicking on the row settings (the three dots). This allows you to add attachments without the commenter seeing them.

Thank you again for your assistance.

The only semi-flippant answer is - don't give them access, and they won't open the attachments. :)

You can publish the sheet with the client, as "Read Only - HTML." That provides the basic sheet without attachments or comments.

If the client needs to be able to modify information, I would heartily suggest you investigate Dynamic View. You can provide access to your underlying sheets based on filters (so conceivably this sheet could have multiple clients on it, and Client A and Client B would see only their respective info but your internal team can use a single tool). It can also control WHICH FIELDS you surface, and which are read-only versus write-capable… and it can also include or exclude attachments.

Whatever route you decide to go, good luck!

If this answer resolves your question, please help the Community by marking it as an accepted answer. I'd also be grateful for your response - "Insightful"or "Awesome" reactions are much appreciated. Thanks!
