Deleted Files

I recently deleted some files. Is there a way to retrieve them?

Hi @hlopez ,

If you look in your Browse panel on the left where you see your list of workspaces, go to the bottom of the list and you should see a Deleted Items trashcan. You can drag the files you need from there into their correct location. Items in the trashcan do permanently delete after 30 days.

Good morning, unfortunately, this is what I get. I don't see the deleted files that were deleted last week or so.

Hello @hlopez

Only the owner of the item can recover the deleted Smartsheet item. Are you the owner or do you know who the owner is? Here is a great help article that has a few more troubleshooting tips:

Is it a file attachment that you are looking to restore or a Smartsheet item? Smartsheet items include: reports, sheets, dashboards, workspaces, etc.? (Sorry, I should have clarified prior to my initial reply)

If it's a file attachment, I found a helpful post that offers some solutions for recovering the files: Recovering Attached Files — Smartsheet Community

If it's a Smartsheet item, you could try contacting Smartsheet Support to see if they are able to assist.

@hlopez The owner can request restoration of the file from Smartsheet central (for want of the correct term) BUT you should be aware that it will come back with a new Sheet ID. This will cause all external links to break.

All external links will have to be reconfigured to the 'new' sheet.

I discovered this the hard way with a restored sheet and 20+ broken dashboards, metrics sheets etc.
