Date Added when my Primary Auto Populates?

Hello! I am trying to find a way to use an automation or something of the sort for when a specific cell is no longer blank.
Context: Primary Column is linked to a hidden auto-numbering column
The "Date Added" Column was working for a while but every now and then the sheet will add about 5+ empty but numbered rows at the bottom of the sheet. This has messed up my ability to track from Open to Close because the date is off. I've set up automation for other "Statuses" and want to do the same thing, but I can't use the same column/logic as those so want to use a different column where the cell changes from blank to not blank only the first time.
Please excuse the chaos and any help appreciated! I'm currently at the "teaching myself to swim" stage of learning Smartsheet and this is an ocean of information.

Activity log was helpful, thank you! It's because I have dropdown options in other columns that are filled in with the first value.

The naming of the column is because my option B is to just re-purpose my Primary Column which honestly sounds like the right choice. Just a bit burdensome

That should work if you can't resolve the blank rows being added.

My first suggestion would be to try to track down where these extra rows are coming from. Have you checked the activity log for any clues?
You can set up an automation triggered when a certain field changes and then set up two conditions. One where the trigger field is not blank and another where the target field is not blank.
