Resource Management Schedule view by department

Hello,
Is it possible to get projects grouped by department like in the attached picture? I don't see where there's an option to sort by department, and from my understanding using tags for projects (i.e. creating a "Marketing Department" tag and attaching to appropriate projects) doesn't consolidate them as nicely. For context, I need to show an executive board all projects each department is committed to in a timeline view.
Thanks!

Hi Richard,
No, the left hand menu in Resource Management Schedule view will show Capacity, Projects or People only.
To organize those by Department as it relates to People, you could use "Discipline" to define Departments, then go to Capacity view to look at how much each Department is allocated. Clicking on any one time period in Capacity would open a filtered view of Individuals and their work in that Department.
To organize by Department as it relates to Projects, I would look at creating a dropdown for each department under Project Custom Fields (and titling the field "Department"). The benefits of Project Custom Fields is that they are easily reportable on and consistent if defined and locked by Administrators when built. You could then be in Projects Schedule view and filter them Projects by their associated Department. You are correct in that People or Project Tags are unreliable. For example: someone could "tag" themselves as "JIRA Expert" and another person could "tag" themselves as "Expert in JIRA". While these mean the same thing, they would not align in reporting as equal. There is also no option from an Admin level to "lock" tags like Custom Fields.
Hope this helps,Emily
