Approval Requests Automatically Triggered When Clicking Email Button
Hi everyone,
I’ve been experiencing a strange issue with Smartsheet approval requests and was wondering if anyone else has come across something similar — or has suggestions on how to fix it.
Here’s what’s happening:
When I receive an approval request email in Gmail and click the “Open Request” button, the request is automatically marked as refused. I get the message:
“This link has already been used or has been cancelled.”
But I haven’t clicked anything on the request page itself — it opens, but before I can interact with it, the response is already submitted as "Refused" in the sheet.
What I’ve tried so far:
- I checked my email security settings and didn’t find anything unusual.
- I disabled Gmail’s Enhanced Malware and Phishing Protection, but the issue persists.
- I also noticed that if I copy the link from the button and paste it directly into a browser tab, everything works fine — the page opens normally and lets me choose to approve or decline.
This makes me think some automatic link scanning might be triggering the response prematurely.
Has anyone dealt with something like this? Any workarounds or settings I should look into?
Thanks in advance for any help!
