Trying to update a user's email address.

Options

User email changed but when I try to remove and readd with correct address it adds the old one again. I've removed her several times and Smartsheet seems to remember the old email and won't allow me to add the new one.

    Couple questions:

    1. Do you have any screenshots?
    2. Is the column restricted or unrestricted (the contact list column)?
    3. When you make the change, are you editing or adding a new?
    4. Does this run off of a managed contact list or is this managed directly in the dropdown?

This nuances will probably change the answer. Typically, you'd need to remove the old email address on all cells with a find and replace — although I can't replicate your exact functionality right now.

From my perspective, old selections will stay the old selection in the cells that already exist. To change those specifically, you'll need to do a find and replace (CTRL + H) on all the cells. The old and new should appear in the contact list, wherein once you do the find and replace should be able to just delete the old one and the new should appear.

I hope this makes sense… I edited for some context after a quick attempt to replicate on my end.

  • I am an admin on our agency's business account. I am trying to add the user in "User Roles and Reports" with the new name and email address. Without entering the user's email addresses here, …., I add it here, and then the system displays the email address where it is going to send the invitation email, and it displays that old address. I removed her from all the places in the system where I had her listed as a contact, and from all groups, and waited a day, but it still pulls up that old email. Any ideas why?
