Logical Update Request
I am thinking about a scenario with an automatic update request:
On the task start date, send an update request to the 'assigned to' column.
On task completion , send an update request to the 'assigned to' column.
Looking at the new update request functionality I am wondering if anyone has thought of a way to do this.
Maybe i can add a column with a formula (if start date = today, yes,,) and have that column trigger the update request, sent to the contact in the 'assigned to' column.
Will the formula calculate & execute while the sheet is not open?

Hello,
This one is tricky, as your hunch is correct—formulas won't calculate and trigger rules until the sheet is opened and saved. This is more noticeable with the TODAY() function, as it'll only reflect the current date in your sheet when the sheet is opened and saved.
You're on the right track with the =IF([Start Date]1 = TODAY(), "Yes") function and then basing an update request rule off of that, but you'll need to open and save the sheet once a day.

This is how I force select sheets to refresh:

I don't need this functionality often.
