Anyone able to Publish Sheet in new Teams Tab? The option has been removed for us

Starting in October, some users noted not being able to add a Smartsheet tab in Teams. While investigating, we discovered that if a user can get to the login and select a file to publish (most people got stuck buffering), the only options are to Share or Don't Share. Publish disappeared from the options. When creating a ticket, we confirmed that our Microsoft Admin Settings are correct. Support just told us, "I have confirmed that the Publish option in this integration has been removed. Currently, there is no direct option to publish to a tab; the only available options are Share and Don't Share."

My questions to the community are:

Does this apply to all accounts or just some?
Has anyone been notified of the deprecation of the ability to publish in Teams?
Is this due to a technical issue or to prevent the usage of workarounds for Viewers to edit?

However, in my environment, only Share and Don't share are available, the same case as yours.

So, the members who are not shared to the sheet see the page like this.

I am not sure if this is 'the deprecation of the ability to publish in Teams' or 'to prevent the usage of workarounds for Viewers to edit'.

A possible workaround is to add the Published link to the channel.

However, this is read-only.

So, I added a Web content widget with a published sheet that is set to be editable.

Then, I added the published dashboard by the Website app.

And, also, created a page with the published dashboard link.

When my team member clicks the tab, the published dashboard opens. (as a separate website, not in the tab).

Since I added a published, editable sheet via the web content widget, my non-shared users can edit it in the published dashboard.

First, I appreciate the confirmation of the missing Publish option.

Second, your beautifully detailed response works perfectly.

Third, it also helped me identify another way to allow edits. Once you embed the editable published sheet in the dashboard, you can create a Smartsheet tab in Teams to Share as Viewer the dashboard.

The user is then able to edit directly in Teams without having to login and, since they are shared as Viewer, it does not require a license. It also doesn't expose the published URL for either the dashboard or the original sheet.
