I would like to propose the idea of a Dropdown list that updates when custom values are added. So when the column field setting "Limit to list values only" is not checked and users can add custom values, the newly added value gets added to the list of dropdown options. This would make it easier for others to select this option, and reduce the likelihood of multiple people typing in similar values, potentially incorrectly, and throwing out the value in reports.
