GDPR - Data Storage in Europe

I have recently started using SmartSheet and have today given a presentation on wha SmartSheet an offer us as a business.

My bubble was well and truly burst when my colleagues started asking about data security based on the impending May change from the Data Protection Act to the General Data Protection Regulation.

Are there any plans for SmartSheet to store data on European Data Centres? Also are SmartSheet currently or planning to obtain ISO 27001.

I'm sure someone from Smartsheet will tell you if there are any plans for Data centres in the UK. We are looking after clients in Europe as well as the USA and the only area where you need to be careful is either Patient Data or Personal Data which can be stored locally on a Sever and a unique ID can reference that person in Smartsheets to help them get their work done while not exposing any more info than their email address.

If you wish to link to sensitive eg word docs, then store them in a Server with user permissions that only let the right people read them and just provide a link to that folder in Smartsheet.

Have a closer look I think you will find great benefit and solutions for your issues!

Smartsheet, along with many other companies, must be prepared to comply with GDPR when it becomes effective this coming May. We have been working diligently to make sure that Smartsheet is both ready to comply with GDPR as well as support our customers in their GDPR compliance efforts by the upcoming deadline.

Do you have any update on this topic? When is the documentation going to be available? My company is doing GDPR project right now and I am responsible for turning in my findings for the marketing group.

Is Smartsheet data primarily stored in the US?
