Internal commentary using contractor smartsheet

Hi All,

I am new to smartsheets and am not aware of it full capability. However, there is something I would like to do. Now, I just need to know if it is possible.

We have a technical contractor performing work on our company and they have a smartsheet they have share with us. I would like to make commentary and post questions in new columns on this smartsheet but accessible only to internal members of OUR company. I would also like to add some of our own workflows into this smartsheet.

I cannot do it through their smartsheet but hope I can import their data or create some kind of live feed of their data in my own smartsheet to allow me to do this.

Does that sound feasible? What are my options?

I hope you're well and safe!

You could connect the sheets using Column Links or cross-sheet formulas combined with either VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH. When you update the source sheet, the changes will be reflected in the destination sheet.

To connect them row by row, you could use an Autonumber Column in the Source sheet and add a so-called helper column to manually add the row ID on as many rows as you need in the Destination sheet.

=INDEX({ColumnWithTheValueYouWantToShow}, MATCH(CellThatHaveTheValueToMatch@row,{ColumnWithTheValueToMatchAgainsTheCell}, 0)
