There is a bolt-on that offers full VLOOKUP capability across sheets. It's called Data Mesh, and is one of 4 premium add-ons to Smartsheet. Pivot App, Status View App and Calendar App are the other three. Each premium app is $2400/yr, or there is a package that includes all 4 apps for $4800/yr. There is also a one-time set up charge of $2000.

Extremely pricey add-ons for 2 pieces of key functionality that are built into E xcel, G oogle Sheets, and Numbers.

We are currently working on native cross-sheet formulas and VLOOKUP, coming in early 2018, so stay tuned.

In the meantime:

As Ian mentions, you can use LOOKUP today if your data is in a single sheet, or linked in from another sheet using cell links.
And we also have Data Mesh as a paid add-in that performs cross-sheet lookups.

Yes, we are still tracking to deliver cross-sheet formulas in Q1 of 2018.

You can now reference data from other sheets in formulas!

Create a master lookup table sheet and use VLOOKUP to find data on another sheet.

You may not need our premium data mesh application anymore.

Whats the story with the vlookup function. Its very limited, since there are 25000 cell limitations in place. Are you going to modify this in the future?

Are there any better alternatives. Im getting to the point where the limitations in smartsheet are outbalancing the actual features and we may be needing to switch to another app.
