Drag fill across colomns
I have a sheet with 180 columns, each with a "add sum" *=sum([column name]:[column name]*. I am trying to "drag fill" the add sum across all 180 columns - but the formula does not adjust to the [column name]...any other way of doing this than typing the formula for each column?

Hi Werner,
If you move or copy your formula, the column names and row numbers should update respectively unless maybe you've created an absolute reference with a $?
=SUM([Column1]1 + [Column2]1) is a quick example that should update column names as you drag.
Best,

Lets say I have 5 columns named a,b,c,d,e - the formula in column a is: =SUM(a:a) - when I drag fill it to column b,c,d and e - the formula stays =SUM(a:a) - instead of adjusting to =SUM(b:b),=SUM(c:c) etc...?

Hey Werner,
Thanks for the example.
If you do a range, the columns will update like: =SUM(a1:a5) will adjust to =SUM(b1:b5).If you are summing an entire column (including the row you are summing) you may see odd behavior as it would be a circular reference at that point.
Hope that helps,
Best,
Kara
