Mysterious row sorting - unable to pinpoint issue

I've noticed on occasion that rows within some of our team's sheets will appear in a random location within the sheet. When I check the activity log, I see points where certain collaborators have "reordered rows", but I'm unable to determine if that means it was done through sorting or filtering, etc. Plus, no one on the team would necessarily be moving those rows out of their designated section or chronological order.

Could this be due to someone editing or sorting with a filter turned on? If not, does anyone know what might be the cause of this issue, or how I may be able to verify from the activity log or cell history what could cause this?

From my experience, Filters are only applied per user. If you filter data it won't affect other people's views like Google Sheets Filters. Filters normally exist independent of each person's view. Also, if a filter is applied you will see that in the top of your sheet, and it will indicate a filter is applied. Most likely, your data is being sorted manually by the other user.

Hi Rachel, did you end up finding the cause to your issue?

We are having the same issue at the moment, whole random selections of rows are moving usually down towards the bottom of the sheet
